In a novel which is mainly exposition, he reads with conviction and drama. This is surely a landmark piece of Science Fiction. It is the only book by this author which I have read, but I will certainly look out for more examples of his work. Okay, yikes, that last line was pretty cheesy.
I especially enjoyed the many allusions to other works and found the reference to Clar,e Ahab particularly engrossing. Readers and viewers will forever enjoy debating whether the film or novel version is better, with no final answer.

Sometimes I don’t like reading such introductions because they either somewhat spoil the book you’re about to read or don’t add a whole lot, but this one was 0201 interesting read for someone who had seen the film but not yet read the novel.

Having said that while I like it very much on this reread I can see why I could not appreciate it in my teens. The film rodsszei released in resulting in movie tie-in editions of both the and novels. Sometimes I still pick it up just to read a chapter or two. Arthur C Clarke takes you by the hand and opens it up to give you a lot more to think about. I enjoy stories involving space travel and a lot of times the era something is written can occasionally take you out rodsszeiw the story by laughable concepts or dated science.
And many–perhaps most–of those alien suns have planets circling them. I recently finished two SF books, this one and Prelude to the Foundation.
One of the greatest-selling science fiction novels of our time, this classic book will grip you to the very end. All of the fascinating themes you doubtless remember from the movie can be found here too: It looked like a fantastic space adventure so a week later I went to see it.
Like the film though there are some parts that seem slow which is why I’m giving the novel four stars instead of five, but overall, I thought the novel was much better and a lot more suspenseful than the film. Clarke takes us on a journey unlike any other.
