This is a book for people who develop embedded microcontroller applications. It introduces them to the family of device–the most popular 8-bit devices on the market–and goes on to show how to use it.
A specific microcontroller board is described and is available which can be used for many of the examples. The book assumes the reader understands elementary programming ideas. Enter your mobile number or email address below and we’ll programimng you a link to download the free Kindle App.

Even the C code was poorly explained The book is disjointed in its approach and not very practical. This is, with regret, the first poor review I have done at Amazon but the book is next to useless when compared to Myke Predko books etc.
Most helpful customer reviews on Amazon. I have a little bit of programming experience and I found it useful to have a reference book for C language. If your are looking for a book that gives good solid information that can be used and built upon by the reader this book is a good choice. On the other hand if your looking for a one stop venture into microcontrollers without the need to do any other reading then this book is not for you.
I believe this is a good addition to any programmers reference book library. I has always wanted to look at the Done most of my programming with the PIC and was curious. And, anything learned from the book or CD directly transports to the full Keil tools in the workplace which are most likely the most prevalent software tools in use. Cover’s multi-tasking and efficient approaches for 8-bit micro programming, as well as some straight-forward hardware interfacing examples.
I found this book to be very informative, written well, and quite good at explaining the concepts. But you should take my background into consideration.
I have a 4 year degree in computer science, am very familiar with system architecture and operating systems concepts, and have several years of C programming experience. However, don’t expect to learn C from this book, or to learn the ins and outs of assembler.
It merely provides a good, broad foundation for most of the things you would want to do with one of these things. I have read the reviews of those above me and have to ask This is the second edition of his book, and still, he cannot get even FOR loop writen in asembly written correctly. Secondly, the Computer Engineering department of the University of Missouri – Rolla, has decided on a whole, the book is worthless.
Too much time is spent correcting his errors as opposed to learning the material. What Shultz does do well is the methodology. It really is a shame he has no plans at all to go back and fix the errors in the book. Unlimited One-Day Delivery and more. There’s a problem loading this menu at the moment.
