This story is book 1 of The Dragonlord Chronicles, a trilogy that focuses on the fantasy world of Mystara. Sign up using Facebook. I knew I couldn’t remember it well enough to do it justice in a review without a reread; and since Barb had forgotten it even more totally, we decided to read it together a second time.
As to the quality of the book itself, one reviewer complained that the plot is a collection of cliches. The cover of this book, by Danilo Gonzalez, does seem to be made just dagonlord this story, as it features the four main characters of the story.

So the trilogy is actually a spin-off from the RPG, and the author is using a setting and world ready made for him by others over a period of years. Due to their fear of a prophecy and the powers of the Dragonlord, dragons try to find and kill the main character. This book is sometimes quite a drag to read as it’s not very well written.

This novel isn’t conceived in Christian terms the world’s pantheon is made of up of ascended mortals who’ve become Immortals, which I understand from Wikipedia already characterized Mystara in the RPG.
