It manages to be stunning vetera being studied; the emotional effusion of Werthe has hardly a tint or shade of artifice, so unfeigned does it feel. Nevertheless, I love Goethe’s style, and I think I’ll be looking into more of his works.
Because the plot has become so hackneyed, I think that, had I read this book in English, I would have hated it.
